Welcoming the Australian High Commissioner to Kanditheemu

Blue Guild Foundation was honoured to welcome the Australian High Commissioner, H.E. Mr. David Jessup, and team to Kanditheemu – Thaana Island.

During the visit, the Australian High Commission, Republic of Maldives met with Blue Guild Foundation to discuss the progress of the Visit Kanditheemu – A Community Driven Future project. The meeting provided an opportunity to share updates on the project’s activities, achievements, and upcoming plans to strengthen community-based tourism in Kanditheemu.

The Visit Kanditheemu project focuses on supporting local entrepreneurs, women-led businesses, SMEs, guesthouses, homestays, and service providers through targeted economic empowerment and capacity building initiatives. Through training, marketing support, improved service standards, and community collaboration, the project aims to create wider benefits for Kanditheemu’s tourism sector and local community.

Blue Guild Foundation extends sincere appreciation to Australian Aid / DFAT and the Australian High Commission, Republic of Maldives for their valuable support and commitment to strengthening local communities through practical and inclusive development initiatives.

We also thank Kanditheemu Council, Visit Kan’ditheemu, local stakeholders, and community partners for their continued collaboration in making this project possible.

Together, we look forward to building a stronger, more inclusive, and more sustainable tourism future for Kanditheemu.
